M43 Hina Pukuʻai by Hawaiʻi Artist Dietrich Varez
Another form of Hina was that of goddess of food plants; Hina-gathering-food. Hina pukuʻai had a special calabash where she kept food. When she was lured away by a chief, she spilled the contents which flew to the heavens to become the moon and stars.
